A new stitch learned

I found this beautiful yarn last fall and I just had to bring it home.  I WP_20150131_19_08_52_Prodecided that I wanted a more “lacy” stitch for the scarf I wanted to make with this beautiful Lion Brand Yarn ~ Landscapes (Tropics).

I searched through Pinterest and found a link to Amelia is Rabbit  site which has straight forward directions (with photos!!).

In no time I was making my first project with the WP_20150216_12_32_28_ProCeltic knot / Lover’s knot.

 

 

As I’m sure seasoned crochers know, some stitches just are more fun to use. I really enjoyed this stitch and the silky soft yarn.  I’ve seen shawls made with this stitch. Since I have to use this stitch again I think I may just make another shawl.

Here’s my latest scarf.  One good thing about a cold snowy winter… I get to wear all my scarves.

A yarn sale started it…

Patchwork Ponderings

I love creating blankets and scarves. I love picking out the stitches and what colour yarn I want. I love the possibilities.

Then to tip my excitement over there are days like today…. A SALE and A COUPON for exactly what I want.  I was like a kid in the candy store being told I could buy my fill.

I was so excited because I have 4/5 projects to do by Christmas.  I get to make a couple scarves, a ‘big sister’ blanket (so she doesn’t feel left out), and a baby blanket with matching dolly blanket (so big sister can keep her dolly warm).

I’m especially thrilled about this baby blanket because I can make it in delicate baby PINK. I’ve made so many blue or neutral blankets, I’ve been dying to make a little pink one.
